Review : NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

Contouring takes one of the biggest my key make up as it really helps you to create a new face! Plastic surgery without have to undergo surgery can be obtained by mastering contouring and highlighting technique. Most of the time I contoured my nose to give it a higher nose bridge and smaller tip

I usually use my Diamond Nose Shading Powder but I know most of Indonesian find it very difficult to find as they have no store in here. So I am sharing another product that works

This nose, is apparently fake lol

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

Although I know it's not as high as most of you guys, but if I dont contour my nose, it looks super super flat on the picture. So I have to play and do tricky stuff on my nose to make it appear nicer and 3D hahaha!

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

So here it is, NYX Highlight & Contour Powder!

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

As far as I know, they only come in one shade? This powder contains 10gr product and do check out the ingredients that they write on the box. Do you have any allergic toward any ingredients mentioned above?

How to contour and highlight

So the key of Highlighting and Contouring is written there

But to put it simply, highlighting means give light color to your face to help accentuate the area of your face that you want to emphasize

While contouring means you put dark color to make shadow on your face so that area appear to be smaller, it also helps defining your feature

You can see the face chart above to know the basic highlighting and contouring to study where you have to put it!

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

NYX Highlight and Contour Powder comes in a plastic white packaging in round shape, with black ornaments printed on top of it. The packaging itself looks kinda cheap compared to high end products but this is quite big so it will last you for a long time

It also comes with a mirror so it's very practical especially if you bring it for traveling. The downside point is it doesn't provide you with any brush to help you applying this product so be sure to have your own brush when using it

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder

The contouring powder itself is pretty pigmented, and a little bit too much for myself. For people with light to light medium skin, please use light hand when you want to apply the contouring powder on your nose

For cheek, it works perfectly fine

The problem comes when we're talking about the highlighting powder. It is chalky and doesn't show up at all on my face. No matter how many times I layered it , it doesnt give me the result that I want.

NYX Highlight & Contour Powder swatch

For the swatch, I use 1 swipe for the contouring, and 5 swipes for the highlighting

The white color doesn't turn out nicely and it looks like crayon, not natural at all. Big disappointment
The contouring has nice pigmentation but it's a little bit too red for my preference so I wont recommend you guys to wear it too much

The result for the contouring powder itself lasts very long and does fantastic job once you grasp how light your hand should work with it.

 Comes in big pan
The result last long on face
 2 in 1 product; economical

 The highlighting powder doesn't work
The contouring is a little bit too reddish
 Doesn't come with brush

I personally feel that this product is pretty average in terms of the result, but if you have tight budget I would recommend this one as this is quite cheap [Only around 9USD] and you get 2 in products, talk about being economical!

Also the product itself is very large so it will last you a long time

But if you have more budget, you can try other products instead :D

  5. I'm a little surprised. Usually there's a subtle difference in the vibrancy of the highly and contour color but it's so drastically brighter and darker than each other in contrast :o

  7. The red color looks like it has a red hint inside (I already aware if it even before you told us XD) well if it red, it would be called as Redzer not bronzer lol really hands down XD
and the highlighter, well it's pain in the ass applying 5 layer of highlighter to get the color --"

  8. You should snap a picture of your face with NYX Highlight Contour Powder and another picture of your face with your preferred bronzer/highlight so we could at least see the differences clearly. Just a penny of my thought though. Teehee :) Have to agree that the packaging looks tad cheap :/

  12. it is.. your hair is jet black, and asian hair has tendency of red shades, so if you only dye it once with blonde, it will only lighten your hair a little =3

  13. if you want bright color, obviously you need to bleach your hair..
if you want natural color, just go with the blonde hair dye and yes, keep redyeing your hair will make the color gets absorbed better, leading your hair into lighter colour

  14. depends on what color you want your ombre looks?

  15. you can, but i dont think you will have obvious result..

blue and purple wont become brown, if you put blue, it will become dark blue colour under the sun..

i think red suits tan skin tone !

Just want to ask a question, and so far from my searches over the web by far you are the most reliable and easy to understand so that's why i was soooo hooked on your blog!

I colored my hair burgundy red last December 2012, as it turns out its just a hint of red every time the sun hits my hair, So this December 2013 i really want to achieve a light to medium brown look, more of a dark blonde but not so blonde color. :D i want it to be noticeable even if there is no sunlight but i dont want it to be sooo blonde hahaha. Im afraid if i color my hair light blonde it will turned out orange or sumtin.. Please help me stella i soooo love you.. PS the my burgundy red color already faded away since it was a year old already but there are some strands with just some itsy bitsy leaft overs of the color... MUAH!

  25. I have bleached my hair and managed to get a light brassy colour. I am Canadian currently living in Japan. Which blonde dye would you buy to remove the brassiness? I have purple shampoo but it does't make such a difference.

    Thanks for your help.
